1. Does our two party system make it harder for things to be accomplished?
2. Is getting reelected more important to politicians than making real decisons?
I think having a two party system does make it harder for things to be accomplished. The two parties will have different opinions on certain topics. In order to make a decision, the two must discuss and agree on the decision which makes the process of making a decision longer. The two parties might disagree causing a controversy and delay of decision making. I think if we had a one party system then the decision process would be more efficient.
I agree with Emily, that our two party system does make it harder for things to be accomplished. Since each party has separate opinions/ideas, compromises can sometimes be difficult. During a decision process both parties will have to discuss their opinions and try to win the other party, making the process longer.
During election time, I think politicians are more focused on being elected that making real decisions. If they used all the time they use to campaign on solving problems and issues, more would get done. But during these election times, winning over the popular vote is more important to them.
